The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department’s Ushers Ferry Historic Village, Indian Creek Nature Center, Matthew 25, and Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center joined forces this year to bring the community a celebration for each of the four seasons in 2013 – Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox Harvest and Winter Solstice.
The Winter Solstice Celebration is being hosted by the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department’s Ushers Ferry Historic Village at 5925 Seminole Valley Tr. NE on Friday, December 20 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The community is invited to chase away the cold with a hike followed by a bonfire, hot cocoa and music by the fire, and a lesson on hand-dipping candles. There is no fee for this event; however, free-will donations will be accepted.
